The Scottish international Sean Lamont has been freed from the last year of his contract with Toulon to play elsewhere.

Lamont has come to agreement with the club and its president  Mourad Boudjellal to leave after two years of his three-year contract. He is 29 and has 26 caps for Scotland. He said he would like to play again for Scotland. He says that his playing chances with Toulon have been limited and that would affect his chances of playing for Scotland. "I must this find another club."

The club's manager, Bernard Laporte says that Lamont's decision is not one based on sport. He says: "We made this decision because since his return of the World Cup, Lamont found it hard to get involved in the life of the club and the squad. He has just kept away from everyone.

Laporte also believes that Willie Mason's days at the club are numbered. The 31-year-old threequarter came to Toulon from rugby league but has played only once for the club. Laporte said Mason was finding it difficult to adapt to the ways of rugby union.
