Cooper and Cipriani in car crash

Three of Super Rugby's most high-profile players were involved in a car accident last Friday in Melbourne.

According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald Rebels players Danny Cipriani and Kurtley Beale, along with injured Wallaby and Reds star Quade Cooper are believed to be the players involved.

It is believed the trio were driving back to the house that Cipriani shares with Rebels teammate Luke Jones when the car failed to take a bend and went over a shrub and into a parked car.

It is believed that no one was injured in the accident.

Cooper, a significant factor in the Reds's drive to the Super Rugby title last season, has been recuperating from a serious knee injury that he suffered playing for Australia at the World Cup last year.

However, Reds Chief Executive Jim Carmichael said he had no concerns about the talented flyhalf, who was evicted from the pub on Stradbroke Island last month after an altercation with a local man and his girlfriend, being in Melbourne.

He said he was not aware of Cooper being involved in the accident and that Cooper had travelled to Sydney to film an promotional rugby video last Wednesday and had been granted permission to spend the weekend in Melbourne, because he was not yet ready to be chosen for the Reds.

"Until Quade Cooper does something that isn't right, I take the view that they are role models and they are expected to do this and that. However, they are still young men who go out," Carmichael told the newspaper.

"He's gone away for the weekend and he's been back here on Monday and that's for us is as deep as it is unless something comes in the next couple of days that says otherwise but I have not seen anything that tells me there's been any issues."

A Rebels' spokesman said the club was aware of a minor traffic incident on Friday and the club was assisting the police with investigation.
