Waldrom: Honoured at call-up

The New Zealand-born No.8 was officially confirmed as replacement for Andrew Sheridan on Sunday, with Waldrom having initially flown out as cover earlier in the week.

Waldrom, who qualifies for England through his grandmother, is now relishing the chance to play his part in the tournament.

Waldrom, who was named the the RPA player of the year after a superb debut season for Leicester, said: "I am very excited to be here. It does (feel a bit surreal). It is a bit crazy.

"It is a big honour and if I get an opportunity to play it will be a great honour and even my family will be very proud of me as well.

"It is a big turnaround but I am pleased to be here at this stage of my career."
