Sevens World Series Rugby News

The IRB Sevens World Series is the annual series of international rugby union sevens tournaments that are hosted around the globe and draws the top teams.  The rugby teams compete for the overall title by accumulating points based on their finishing position in each tournament.  The event has nine stops - Gold Coast Sevens, Dubai Sevens, South Africa Sevens, Wellington Sevens, USA Sevens, Hong Kong Sevens, Japan Sevens, Scotland Sevens, London Sevens.

    An electric Kenyan side stormed back in the second half of the Hong Kong Sevens Bowl Final to edge the USA out 12-14. A 28-14 win over Scotland in the Bowl Semifinal earlier in the day gave the Eagles momentum that they carried into the final, but couldn't finish Kenya off.

    The USA Women's Eagle Sevens fell to a very sharp Australia side 0-33 in the Hong Kong IRB Women's Challenge Cup semifinals on Saturday (March 24, 2012). Two good wins on day one against Spain and Tunisia primed the USA for a shot at the ultimate prize, the Cup, but unforced errors and mental mistakes plagued the Americans against the defending World Champions in the semis.
