Cardiff Blues scrumhalf Richie Rees will part ways with the Welsh club at the end of the current season and is currently considering various options for his future.

Rees joined the Blues from London Irish in 2007 helping win both the Anglo-Welsh Cup in 08/09 and the European Challenge Cup in 09/10. He made 94 appearances for the Blues, scoring 5 tries. 

The experienced scrumhalf won the first of his 9 Welsh caps against England in the 2010 Six Nations and scored his debut international try against Australia in the 2010 Autumn Test series.

Speaking of his decision Rees said: "I've had a fantastic time at the Blues since joining in 2007 and there have been many highlights. In particular winning both the EDF Energy & Amlin Challenge cups, and the unforgettable Heineken Cup semifinal penalty shootout versus Leicester.

"Cardiff Blues are currently in a transition period and I believe now is the right time to throw myself into a new challenge. 

"There's a great group of boys at the Blues and I really enjoy training with them every day. I'd like to thank all of the supporters who have been great with me since joining, and Dai Young for his contribution to my career. I look forward to ending the season well with the Blues in both the Pro12 and Heineken Cup," he said.
