Stephen Myler: Agreed new terms with Northampton

Fly-half Stephen Myler has signed a new contract with Aviva Premiership club Northampton.

Saints announced that the 28-year-old had agreed terms "for the foreseeable future".

And it comes amid speculation that Myler's fellow Saints fly-half, Ryan Lamb, is set for a move to their east midlands rivals Leicester next season.

Myler has been at Franklin's Gardens for six-and-a-half years, moving to union from rugby league.

He has scored 1,427 points during that time to lie third on the club's all-time points chart behind Paul Grayson and Roger Hosen.

"When I first came here from league I wasn't sure how long I would last in union, but I've thoroughly enjoyed my time," Myler said.

"We have been gradually building momentum over the past few seasons, and obviously winning the (European) Challenge Cup and LV= Cup stand out as highlights of my career.

"The (2011) Heineken Cup final was another step forward, and it showed just how far the club had come in a short space of time and what we are capable of.

"We've fallen short a couple of times, but the fact that we are now competing in those Premiership semi-finals year on year is an indication of how much expectations have risen."
