Former Bulls flyhalf and new kicking coach Derrick Hougaard has admitted that he would still like to make a comeback for the Pretoria franchise.

The former Loftus Versfeld crowd favourite was unveiled as a kicking consultant for the Bulls on Tuesday and said that returning to the fold is a dream come true.

"I've got one foot still wanting to play and the other not sure what needs to be done," Hougaard said.

"To be able to be back in the Bulls setup so soon is a dream come true and I didn't realise how much I have missed being here.

"I know it's a passion and just wearing the blue clothing again is quite exciting," he added.

Hougaard was not ruling out a possible return to the playing field, should the opportunity present itself.

"There is one side of me that still wants to finish as a player at Loftus," he said.

"I'm hoping and praying. There is always a chance, but I've had three operations and the last one was a reconstruction.

"The mechanics of the body is not 100 percent but hopefully with a lot of training and patience I will get to a stage where I feel comfortable," he said.

Hougaard left the Bulls in 2008, moving with coach Heyneke Meyer to the Leicester Tigers and signed with their English Premiership rivals Saracens the following year.

If he is to force his way into the reckoning for the Bulls No.10 jersey again he will have to get past Bok pivot Mornè Steyn, Currie Cup stalwart Louis Fouchè and Baby Bok playmaker Handre Pollard who were all named in the Bulls' wider training squad on Tuesday.
