Lions captain JC Janse van Rensburg is said to be one of two South Africa props heading to struggling French club Bayonne.

French sports site Sud Ouest said Bayonne have signed Gert Muller, from Agen, and Van Rensburg.

Van Rensburg was not immediately available to comment, or confirm the move, while calls to the Golden Lions Rugby Union also remained unanswered.

The club has not announced anything formally, with no mention of the move on the club website, with some reports suggesting they had only "made an offer" and he has not signed yet.

However, Sud Quest stated it as fact the two South Africans will be playing for Bayonne next season.

Muller, 27, arrived at Agen in 2010, but has played little this season following ankle surgery.

Van Rensburg, also 27, has played 47 times for Lions in Super Rugby and has been captaining them since last year.

He is schedule to lead them in the next part of the Lions Challenge - when they will head to North America in April to take on invitation teams in the United States and Canada.

Bayonne have been busily recruiting with next season in mind.

Fiji wing Saimoni Vaka, flank Jean Monribot, Argentine utility Martin Bustos Moyano, Kiwi inside back Stephen Brett and scrumhalf Mathieu Belie have also been brought on board.

Muller has committed himself to two seasons, with the option of signing on for a third.

Van Rensburg. who was called up as a late replacement to the Springbok's year-end tour, has also signed a two-year contract, according to the French reports.
