Can Falcons get Cross?

Waratahs outside centre Ryan Cross has received an offer to play for Premiership outfit the Newcastle Falcons but he has asked for more time to consider the decision and may be entertaining other offers.

The 32-year-old outside back, who has 18 Test caps for his country, is apparently also the target of French side Perpignan and has also been linked with a return to Rugby League side the West Tigers by the Australian media.

The offer from Perpignan is understood to be a lucrative two-month deal, as they try to cover themselves during the World Cup, and may be more tmepting to Cross than the two-year deal on the table from the Falcons.

A senior source at the club told the Newcastle-based Journal: "We have made Ryan an extremely good offer, which has been accepted by the player and his agent.

"The contract has been drawn up and was sent over to Australia for him to sign, but he has asked for some more time to decide on what would obviously be a big move for him and his family."

With the Premiership kicking off in just six weeks time, the delay is not ideal for the Falcons and they have already begun putting feelers out about different prospective options with Free State Cheetahs centre Corne Uys one of the front-runners.
