Rotund Australia prop Matt Dunning was unveiled as a Biarritz player, with the French Top 14 side keen to tap into the expertise of a player with Super Rugby experience.

The 32-year-old Dunning, who played for the Wallabies at the 2003 World Cup, previously featured for the Waratahs as well as Western Force in Super Rugby.

Dunning is part of an extensive closed-season recruitment programme by Biarritz, who finished fifth in the Top 14 last time out.

He joins South African prop Albertus Buckle, wing/centre Benoit Baby, hooker Arnaud Heguy, Dan Caprice and Fiji sevens skipper Seremaia Burotu at the club.

* Welsh centre Lee Thomas dealt newly-promoted Lyon a blow when a knee injury ruled the 27-year-old out of action for three months.

Thomas, who joined Lyon in 2010 after spending four seasons with English side Sale, will undergo surgery and may not play until early November.
