Hurricanes head coach Mark Hammett has continued to build his squad after securing the signatures of loose forwards Serge Lilo and Jack Lam.

Both contracts, which are subject to medical clearance, will keep Lam at the franchise next year and Lilo until 2013.

Hammett noted: "Serge is a true warrior who will always give everything for the team and has great values as a person. He is one of those players who goes about his business quietly, without fuss, but is always in the heart of the action."

Serge Lilo said: "I was brought up in Wellington and always wanted to be a Hurricane when I was young. Next year we will have a young team and there'll be some good players coming through which is going to be exciting."

Waikato-born Lam has also committed to the franchise for another two years which was exciting news for Hammett.

"Jack was a consistent performer throughout the campaign and was a great team member,"the coach said.

"He had a great debut season and picked up the Rookie of the Year Award, voted for by his team-mates. We are delighted that he has chosen the Hurricanes and look forward to having him back."

Hurricanes CEO James Te Puni has also reached an agreement with Cory Jane, which will commit him to the Hurricanes if he stays in New Zealand.

"Cory is still considering his options for next year, but he has now signed a contract with us which states that if he plays Super Rugby next year it will be with the Hurricanes rather than any other franchise."
