Crowley: Canada coach

The Canucks have enjoyed an encouraging build-up the tournament, reaching the final of the Churchill Cup and putting in a competitive display against an Australian Barbarians side.

They will face a Tonga team who have already opened their campaign, going down 41-10 to New Zealand in Friday's tournament opener.

Despite the heavy scoreline the South Sea Islanders battled manfully during the second half, which they only lost 12-7.

And Canucks coach Crowley knows his pack, which includes the terrific back row of Adam Kleeburger, new Ospreys signing Chauncey O'Toole and Aaron Carpenter, will need to take the sting out of their physical opponents if they are to prosper.

He told the Rugby Canada website: "The set play is crucial. You've got to get good platform ball so that will be a massive challenge for the guys around the scrum the line-out and the contact area. Tonga bring a real physical game to the table and we've got to match that."

Former All Black full-back Crowley has stuck with the majority of the side that were beaten by the Australian Barbarians, but has had to make a late change with Matt Evans dropping off the bench due to a knock picked up in training. Nathan Hirayama comes into the 22.

Tonga coach Isotolo Maka has reshuffled his side due to the quick turnaround between games, making 11 changes. The most notable of those sees Taniela Moa moved from scrum-half to fly-half and Kurt Morath shifted to full-back. There is also a start for formidable Perpignan prop Kisi Pulu.
