New Zealand: Won the tournament for a 10th time

England picked up six points, finishing third in the overall standings as New Zealand won the tournament for a 10th time.

A 26-12 Cup quarter-final loss to New Zealand meant the day started badly and it was followed up with a 34-19 defeat to Fiji in the Plate semi-final.

England had gone into the final two tournaments of the HSBC Sevens World Series with a chance to win their first-ever world title, but picked up no series points in the previous event in London and only six in the final round of the tournament.

South Africa ran out eventual winners in the Cup final, staging a comeback against Australia to win 36-35 after the two had met on Saturday in a pool game and South Africa had won comfortably.

Fiji carried on their winning ways and followed up victory over England with a 26-14 win over Samoa in the Plate final.

But New Zealand still ran out overall winners to pick up their 10th title in a competition that has only been running for 13 years.
