    California started its spring season with three shutouts Saturday at UCLA's All-UC Tournament. Fifty-three players took the field and 16 them scored total of 21 tries as the Golden Bears beat UC Santa Barbara, 34-0; UC Davis, 45-0; and UC San Diego, 57-0.

    MacDonald Joins Cal as Assistant Coach

    Mike MacDonald, a professional most recently with Leeds Carnegie in the English Premiership who holds the U.S. record for international appearances following an All-America career at California between 2000 and 2004, will serve as an assistant coach for the Golden Bears during the spring season.

    Return to Witter Rugby Field Among Season Highlights

    The 131st year of California rugby continues in 2013 with the kickoff of the Golden Bears' traditional spring season in the 15-a-side game. Cal will journey from coast to coast and across the border between January and June, and for the first time since 2010, the Bears will welcome fans back to Strawberry Canyon with the reopening of Witter Rugby Field for home matches.

    Wayne State College Women's Rugby Club marched to the NSCRO Small College National Championship title but the journey was not played out only on the rugby pitch. For most of the players this was a first time visit to the east coast so the trip was more than just rugby as the side made the ‘23-Hour Drive to be #1 in the NSCRO Rugby Nation.’
