The 2011 Ivy Rugby 7's Championship will be held at The Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, MA, on Saturday November 5th from 9am till 3pm.

National Champions Dartmouth will take on the other seven Ivy League schools in this action packed Saturday. Schedule is enclosed. Dartmouth will have 3 teams competing: a 1st VII looking to take home the Championship; and a 2nd and 3rd VII competing for the TIER II trophy.

The seven-a-side version of the sport is a rapid fire version of the traditional 15-a-side game requiring vast amounts of speed and athleticism. The International Olympic Committee will host the sport at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janiero. The United States is the reigning Olympic champion, as rugby was last competed in the 1924 Olympics in Paris. Rugby is the fastest growing sport in the US. The recent World Cup held in New Zealand was viewed by over a billion fans.

The Ivy 7s Championships are being hosted by The Boston Irish Wolfhounds and Harvard Rugby. The event will also be sponsored by Boathouse Sports, Royall Lyme and H2H. Admission is $5 at the gate, students and kids in for free. The Irish Culture Center is located at 200 New Boston Drive in Canton (zip code 02021-2825). The center can be reached by phone at (781) 821-8291.
