Cudmore cited

Big Canadian lock Jamie Cudmore has been cited for his action against the Stade Français scrumhalf Jérôme Fillol when Clermont Auvergne played Stade Français at Stade de France on Saturday.

At a tackle ruck, Fillol went round the side and played Kevin Senio, Clermont's replacement scrumhalf. The referee immediately penalised Fillol who was having a disagreement with Senio when Cudmore came from behind Fillol and with a swinging left arm struck Fillol on the side of his face, with an unclenched hand it seemed. Fillol fell to the ground, holding his face.

The referee, George Clancy of Ireland, consulted his assistant and then sent Cudmore to the sin bin. Cudmore tried to debate the matter but went off.

Cudmore is no stranger to such sanction. In fact he may just have the worst disciplinary record in the history of the game. Last season he was suspend for 10 weeks for stomping on Jacques Burger in a Heineken Cup match and, barely back fro suspension for 40 days for punching Grégory Le Corvec.

He has been playing for Clermont since 2003 and, apart from citings and suspensions, has garnered well over 20 yellow cards and three red cards. In March this year he was yellowcarded against Toulon and then in August when playing for Canada against the USA.

Cudmore has been summoned to appear before a  disciplinary committee of the Ligue Nationale de Rugby on 23 November 2011.
