The Golden Bears host the Penn State Nittany Lions for "Monday Night Rugby" March 4 at 6 p.m. on Witter Rugby Field in a rare evening under the lights against an even rarer regular-season opponent. Cal students, youth under 12 and military personnel with ID are admitted free to the match.

The last time these two teams met, a slot in the national semifinals was on the line. Monday night, they will resume their series history with both teams still among the elite on their respective coasts. Despite a 59-10 loss at Saint Mary's College in Moraga on March 1 to put its record at 3-1, PSU arrived on the West Coast having beaten Delaware, Temple and Army, the last a 43-20 win over the Black Knights.

The Bears, at 13-0 overall and 3-0 in the PAC Rugby Conference, are coming off their 80-14 win over Arizona on Saturday.

This three-match homestand concludes on Wednesday night, March 4, under the lights on Witter Rugby Field with the first-ever meeting between the Golden Bears and the Dukes from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. The Dukes, who arrived in California with an 0-1 record after their 26-19 season-opening loss to Maryland, are coached by Mark Lambourne, who played for Jack Clark at Cal and graduated from the University with an MA in Physical Education and Psychology.

Next Saturday, March 9, the Bears resume their PAC Rugby Conference at Oregon State, then go back on the road to finish the "World Cup" series against UBC in Vancouver March 24 before returning to Witter Rugby Field to celebrate Homecoming as they host Utah at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30.
