Raptors Men’s 7’s coach, André Snyman, was recently appointed as Head Coach of the West Men’s 7’s All-Star team due to compete at the USA Rugby National All-Star Championship this weekend, August 27-28, 2011 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA.

Snyman and Western Rugby Football Union Program Director, Greg Jarvis, announced the Western All-Star team on August 15, 2011 and Snyman was pleased that two of his Raptors team were called up for duty.

Dewon Reed and Spencer Scott will be lining up with the team at the Championship and Snyman has no doubt that his players will get the job done.

“I am thrilled to have Dewon and Spencer in the West All-Star 7’s team,” said Snyman.

“They worked hard during the season and deserve the call up. Dewon is a good line-breaker and Spencer is a solid workhorse. But I am going to be relying on the entire West All-Star 7’s team to produce the results at the Championship.”

Snyman joined the Raptors Men’s 7’s program this year and enjoyed a successful season with his team winning the Harlequin Cup in Irving, TX in June.

Rugby 7’s will be making its debut appearance on the program at the 16th Pan American Games to be held from October 29 to October 30 2011 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

“Obviously the All-Star 7’s Rugby National Championship is the perfect venue to scout for talented players for the Pan American games team. With that in mind, I hope to incentivize the team to produce solid disciplined performances and that should take care of business for the selectors and produce the results for the team” said Snyman.
