Welshman Kingsley Jones is set to take over as head coach of the Russian national team, the Russian Rugby Union (RRU) press service announced Wednesday.

Jones, who was Russian team director at the recent World Cup in New Zealand, will take over as head coach from Nikolai Nerush, who resigned immediately after the end of that competition.

New Zealander Henry Paul, who was Russian defence coach in New Zealand, has been tapped to take over as coach of the Russian sevens squad.

"I'd say that Jones and Paul will be appointed for these posts with a 99-percent probability," the head of the RRU Vyacheslav Kopiev was quoted as saying.

Russia lost all four of their matches in the country's first appearance in the World Cup - to Australia, United States, Ireland and Italy.
