The All Blacks are confident that the possible absence of coach Steve Hansen will not affect their preparations for the Bledisloe Cup clash with Australia this weekend.
Hansen's father passed away on Tuesday, and at this stage it is not clear whether he will travel with the team to Brisbane on Thursday.
However, assistant coach Ian Foster said that the passing of Des Hansen would not distract the team who are focused on securing their 17th consecutive Test victory this weekend.
"We are all feeling for him but the team just carries on as normal and we are trucking along without him. The beauty of this team is we have good routines to prepare and we know if we have prepared well leading up to Friday we have a good chance of playing well on Saturday," he told Fairfax media.
Team manager Darren Shand read a short statement after training on Tuesday.
"The All Blacks family extend our deepest sympathies to Steve and his family at this very difficult time. Steve and the family thank everyone for their messages and support and ask for privacy at this very challenging time," he said.
Foster explained that while Hansen is with his family in Christchurch he is still providing input in the preparations.
"He is still heavily involved with the planning but he is spending a lot of time with his family. That's the key thing for him right now," he said.
Flyhalf Dan Carter also extended his sympathies to Hansen and his family.
"It is very sad news to hear of the passing of Des. He was a great man and obviously the feeling in the camp is of support for Steve.
"There are some pretty tough times ahead, so our thoughts are with him and his family," he said.
