Wallaby legend Phil Waugh was arrested and charged with drink driving in the early hours of Friday.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Waugh was pulled over by police at 01.20.
A police spokesman told the newspaper that the 33-year-old was travelling along Sailors Bay Road, Northbridge, in north Sydney.
He was arrested and taken to Chatswood police station where he was breath tested and returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.083.
Police charged him with drink driving, his licence was suspended and he will appear at Hornsby Local Court on January 9.
The spokesman said it is believed there were no other passengers in the car.
Waugh, despite spending the majority of his career as a backup to George Smith in the Wallaby squad, still managed to play in 79 Tests for Australia between 2000 and 2009.
The former Waratahs captain was named vice captain of the Wallabies' 2003 World Cup team, who were ultimately runners-up.
He was rewarded for his performance in 2003 by winning the John Eales Medal for the Wallabies Best and Fairest Player, and was regarded by some as one of Australia's best loose forwards.
