Samoans: Happy times in Sydney

The visitors proved they are a match for anyone when they have a full-strength XV available, sealing a deserved victory over the Wallabies at ANZ Stadium.

"We had quite a good tour of the northern hemisphere last year and this was the first game when we had all our players back," said McLean, ironically known within the squad as 'Aussie'.

"We got some respect there. We played some tier one nations and didn't lose by many points. We're just hoping to grow our game.

"Today was just about respect, we wanted to get some respect and hopefully we've done that.

"Some of these boys grow an extra arm when they put this Samoa jersey on.

"They're a few who play some 15-to-20% better than what they do when they perform week in, week out for their clubs. That's what you want when you've got guys playing for their national team."
