One of the greats of Argentinian rugby will lead the Pumas at Tucuman in what is shaping up to be his 77th and final international appearance.
The 34-year-old is unlikely to participate in the Rugby Championship, the expanded Tri-Nations tournament that opens against South Africa on August 18, due to club commitments with Stade Francais.
Although he has made himself available for the Pumas later this summer, Contepomi, who is playing in his third Test of the month, will return to Paris next month.
"For the Rugby Championship, we'll have to prepare in July," said the highly-respected former Bristol and Leinster back.
"Our union has reached an agreement with the European clubs whereby European-based players who play in the June Tests will not play in the Rugby Championship.
"I'm going to take four weeks' holiday and then I'll participate in the pre-season preparations with Stade Français.
"Obviously if the coaches want me, I'll always be there. But I don't think I'll be able to participate in the Rugby Championship."
Contepomi lines-up at inside centre as one of seven changes made to the side that won the opening Test 23-20 in Cordoba last weekend, a result that lifted Argentina above Les Bleus to seventh in the world rankings.
A new half-back combination of Tomas Cubelli and Benjamin Urdapilleta replace Martin Landajo and Ignacio Mieres, while only three players in the 22 have more than 10 caps - prop Eusebio Guinazu, lock Esteban Lozada and Contepomi.
France have not won in Argentina since 1998 and have lost eight of the last 11 meetings with the Pumas.
