European Club Top Ten–Feb. 4

European Club Top Ten–Feb. 4

With only English and Welsh teams playing this last weekend there weren’t a lot of changes in our rankings.

1. Munster (Last Week: 1): Munster were idle this last weekend but many of their players did well as they played for Ireland against Scotland.

2. Leinster (3): For the second week in a row Leinster move up the rankings for doing nothing.

3. Clermont (4): Clermont still sit in a good position in both the Heineken Cup and the Top 14. They face a huge match for the top spot in the Top 14 against Stade Francais this weekend.

4. Saracens (2): Sure, Saracens were missing several of their top players but they are always talking about depth and will be disappointed with their loss to Northampton in the LV= Cup. They still qualified for the semi-finals.

5. Stade Francais (5): At least Stade can go into next week’s fixture against Clermont knowing that they will be missing as many internationals as their opponents.

6. Northampton (6): The Saints earned a big win over Saracens and now are alive in still three competitions. They showed a lot of depth this last weekend with big Samu Manoa leading the way.

7. Toulouse (7): Toulouse were idle last weekend. They face a tough match against Montpellier.

8. Toulon (8): Toulon were idle last weekend. They play Biarritz next weekend.

9. Ulster (9): Their top players are off on international so they’ll have to rely on their role players against Ospreys this week.

10. Castres (10): Sitting in third place isn’t a bad position and they get to play Oyonnax.
